Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 105/333
Age Group = M 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 17/29
Pre-race routine:

Same as any other day.
Event warmup:

Light stretching, swim, and ride.
Swim
  • 13m 24s
  • 600 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

This just was not a good swim for some reason. I have done some OWS and really thought it wouldn't be a problem but things went bad by my standards. My breathing went to crap and my arms got tired. I was able to find someone else at my pace and drafted him for 400+ meters. When I got out of the water I was light headed for some reason and breathing like crazy. There was a 75+ yard run to transition.
What would you do differently?:

Try to relax more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

I didn't think I was this slow...lol. My jersey got tangled in my back and that took a bit to get fixed.
What would you do differently?:

Next race I will have a full zip jersey or tri suit. Other than that I guess just go faster.
Bike
  • 34m 3s
  • 11.8 miles
  • 20.79 mile/hr
Comments:

I am good with this ride.
What would you do differently?:

Stay aero a little more maybe.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
What would you do differently?:

I think I wiull try speed laces.
Run
  • 28m 59s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

I really felt like this run kicked my butt. There was a small hill not far from transition and I got winded and I never got in a groove. I had a side stitch for 3/4 of the race and my breathing was horrible. There was one big hill on the trail that I walked up and didn't even attempt to run up.
What would you do differently?:

I need to simply run more and start doing some speed training to get my pace up.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to race more to get experience and try to start doing some realistic bricks.

Event comments:

I really wanted to do a little better but overall I guess I am ok with this race. I was hoping to be closer to 1:15 so now I know I have work to do. The bad swim really messed me up and it took a bit to refocus. I need to find another race before Augusta so I can feel better.
