Pre-race routine:

Normal routine except had to replace the PB&J waffle with scrambled eggs and white toast. We forgot our stuff at home and had to grab what they had at the famous White Columns Inn in Thomson, GA. (my Dad's hometown, so don't mess with it :) )
Event warmup:

Ride from car on bike. Short swim and chat with Dollar.
Swim
  • 11m 9s
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Stuck with some good feet I found for the first 300 meters. Lost them at one of the buoys and started getting stuck behind the AG in front of us. Spent the last 300 meters swimming around people which slowed me down a bit and I lost the feet, but was alright.
What would you do differently?:

Try to stick with the feet.
Transition 1
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Nice and quick after the run up the hill to the transition.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike

Comments:

Good hard push. Felt good the whole way until I heard the awful whoom, whoom, whoom, of race wheels approaching. Turns out it was 3 dudes in a pace line. Nice. Whatever; let them race the way they want. Pacing was tough, but it was a short ride so I figured it made sense to push hard.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Had a little trouble with the socks again, but got in and out pretty quick.
What would you do differently?:

Someday learn how to run without socks.
Run
  • 23m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run. Unfortunately lost 2 places on this in the last half mile which cost me 3rd in the AG. Boo. Tried to hold pace, but it was tough to do on some of the hills on the trail. When I hit the road, I was able to pick the pace back up as evidenced by the last mile which was mostly road and the first mile which was mostly trail. Nuff said.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing except maybe wear trail shoes.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch. Walk around and get lots of water. Wait for results.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Very little.

Event comments:

Just like all other Tri the Parks series races. They have great courses with lots of support and are well run. Enjoyable and well put together.

Course: Loop-ish with lots of trail parts. One wicked hill at about 1/2 mile in on the trail. I'll put it this way...almost 1200 feet of climbing and descent over 3.1 miles. Uphills up to 49% grade and downhills up to -59% according to Garmin. Enjoyed the soft surface running, but it definitely slowed the pace.
