Comments: I felt great...nice breathing pattern, felt aggressive for the first 150m or so, I probably passed 5 people in the first 100 meters. I was seeded 111 but ranked 46th overall...hmmm, sounds like a lot of people had some wishfull thinking going on. What would you do differently?: Not much...might have pushed a little harder in the last 100 meters...but I felt good out of the water and that was a good time for me. Transition 1
Comments: I had about 5 seconds lost because I couldn't get the helmet on and strapped as fast as usual...probably just rushing things on race day. Once I did the flying mount it took me a little longer than usual to get into the shoes b/c I was almost t-boned by some girl who didn't look to comfortable doing the flying mount...kind of through me off a bit. What would you do differently?: Not much...maybe take a couple deep breaths as I put the helmet on. Also, I might peadle out from the mount line a little further before I get into the shoes. Bike
Comments: I felt fast and good the whoe time...I knew I was having a great ride...the interval training is paying off in a pretty big way. Flying dismount went well as also...probably one of my best rides in a race. What would you do differently?: I did get too rapped up in my ride and forgot to take a gel...ike to take one about 10 minutes from the finish so I have a nice kick ready for the run. Transition 2
Comments: Almost went to the wrong rack...maybe lost a couple of seconds. What would you do differently?: Be more aware of my racking position. Run
Comments: The run hurt a lot! I had a nice wuick pace early on...then I had a side stitch...forgetting to take enurolytes before the race and/or forgetting about my gel pack on the bike may have been contributors. It was probably the worst stitch I've ever had and affected my running for drmatically. However, I get an A for effort...I ran through it the whole way (walking once for about 5 seconds). Bottom line is that this hurt bad...but from a mental standpoint...that may be a good thing. What would you do differently?: Plan better nutrition prior to the run. Post race
Warm down: Walking around and cheering on my friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition...need to stay focused on that...even on shorter distances. Event comments: Took forever for the awards ceremony to start...but at least I had a reason to stick around. Great race...will do this event every year (if I can). Last updated: 2009-07-26 12:00 AM

Woke up around an hour before transition opened (4:30am). Ate a peanut butter and banana sandwhich...I had the truck all packed and ready to go from the night before so I waited around until about 5:25 and headed out to the race site. Got to the race in about 20 minutes (5:45am) and set up.
I went for a small 1 mile or so run at a moderate pace to get the blood flowing...then I headed to the pool and put in 200 meters...ready to go!
