Precipitation
Total Time = 2h 10m 19s
Overall Rank = 13/32
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 4/5
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early (4h30) to get to the race site, approximately a 2h drive from home. Weather was not very good, raining and very windy.
Event warmup:

Jogged a little bit around and stretched.
Swim
  • 04m 58s
  • 1000 meters
  • 30s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim portion was canceled. There were too many waves (very windy) and they could not put the boats on the ocean. For security reasons, they canceled the swim portion and replaced it with a small 1K run.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Seemed to went pretty well, but slow a little bit. Because of the rain I choose not to start with the shoes clipped on the bike. Probably cost me a few seconds but it was the good thing to do.
What would you do differently?:

Make the sun dance to scare the rain away....
Bike
  • 1h 13m 7s
  • 40 kms
  • 32.82 km/hr
Comments:

Strong headwinds going out with rain. By the time we were on the last leg, the wind had slowed down a bit. Felt good on the bike but had a harder time pushing after 30k.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more!
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Went OK, had to run with the bike and had kept my shoes on because of rain. Everything else went good.
What would you do differently?:

Should have removed the shoes this time, everything was wet anyway.....
Run
  • 49m 36s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 58s  min/km
Comments:

Tried to keep a pace of 5:00 min per K or less. Went pretty good, was able to keep the pace. Had to push harder at the end to maintain it, but felt good.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and talked to friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weather.

Good job out there Luc

Jamais facile quand il te surprenne avec un duathlon au lieu d'un triathlon ... Nice speed sur le bike!!
