I'll be there!  I registered last year, but after Ike they postponed it to the same weekend as San Antonio and I didn't get to run 10 for Texas.  I'm looking forward to it!

It's still retarded that we have our only two 10 mile races on the same weekend.

Though I'm sure 10 for texas is trying to get the HARRA fall series slot from USA 10 miler.

X2. I was bummed when they fell on the same weekend. I should be there this year though as the starting line is about 1.5 miles from my house, so it's an easy decision.

When and where is this race?  We are signed up for the 1/2 and a ten miler would be good.

It's on 10/10

There is a whole fall race series that HARRA puts on that ends with the houston marathon.

Keri, 10 for Texas is in the Woodlands.

Here's the link:  http://www.thewoodlandsassociations.org/site/parks-rec/?page=379. Congrats on getting signed up for the half. I was out of town with no internet access and the race filled up way to quickly. But I'll be doing the St. Jude half in Memphis in December.

Goes back to my first post that it's dumb to have our only two 10 milers on the same weekend. :p

Ten for Texas is on 10/10 and is in the woodlands ( http://www.thewoodlandsassociations.org/site/parks-rec/?page=379)

USA 10 miler is on 10/11 and is in Clear Lake. ( https://my.eztoregister.com/events/USA-10-Miler/USA-10-Miler.asp)

Atleast they are on opposite ends of town. The USA 10 miler is part of the HARRA fall series, so if you're a harra member and do 3 races you get ranked and is a fun little bonus to compete against the same people race to race. If you don't care about that, both races are good. So just go to the closer one.

Thanks Stephen.  I'll have to try to talk the husband into it.  He swore to me just yesterday he wouldn't do 10 miles outside before November.  We would probably go to The Woodlands race, it's closer and the HARRA thing is a non issue.

Same weekend as Du the bear, or I'd do the clear lake one.

I'd rather do a duathlon though.

Awww man, I was interested in Du the Bear too but didn't realize that also fell on 10/10.  Oh well, since I will be done with the tri stuff and on to 1/2 marathon training, I guess the 10 for Texas would make more sense for me.

Hi,

Does anyone know if the course is flat or not? I am looking for some hills as training for Iron Star.

Thanks.

There are a few really small grade changes on the course, but nothing you'd call a hill. The biggest is probably on the bridge going over Lake Woodlands on Lake Woodlands Drive. It might have 20-feet worth of evelation gain to it.

Where do you live?  There are plenty of hills around Montgomery/Willis.  7 coves off fm830 and the conroe hills of fm1097 do not have an acess gate to get in or I could grant you access to our neighbor hood.  We have enough hills that I thought the austin halfmary was easy (and it was my first half).  I guess you could run in buffalo crossing where the biggest hills for the ironstar run will be located.

Thanks for the info. I live in the 290/Barker Cypress area. I may need to start going out to Chappell Hill to run (I do ride my bike there).
