Thank you I just e-mailed them. I cannot wait to see who shows up at the pool wearing my cap and then explaining  how they got it.

yes, the run course was very hot. however, im not sure how much cooler it would have been if the entire thing was on the roads or biking trail. i had an absolute blast the entire time i was out there and would definitely do it again, even if i have to swim with another light pink swim cap!

The race has not posted yet. Do I need to look elsewhere, New Orleans again or Texas?

Other forums seem to be saying that the race will be moved 25 min away from Disney in Haines City. Does anyone know this to be true? If so I will probably still do it and just drive from Disney.

It is official.  It will be in Haines City.  The RD made an announcement on ST.  I believe the site will be updated with reg info tomorrow at noon.  Thursday the 8th.  I also saw the agreement with the county (Polk County).

The new course for IM 70.3 Florida is very nice.  Great venue at Lake Eva Park in Haines City!  Course maps and profiles are on the web site.   Entry is only $225.00 right now and will be that price until Jan. 10,2012.     Z

I'm in...amazing what happens when you get out the credit card and pay...I am more focused about getting my training in than I have been in over a year.  There's not much time to get ready, so missing training sessions is NOT an option!  My husband and I are "snow birds" in that we visit Florida every year for a couple of months to get out of the gloom of Seattle weather.  This year we'll be in St Pete April/May so this race seemed like a good way to get back into consistent training...not to mention, the FUN of it all.

First things first: loose the 3.5 lbs I gained the last two months before it gets out of control..would really like to get down to my IM weight, losing 5-6 lbs.  Why is it so hard to lose just those last few lbs?  Oh, yeah, I forgot...I hate being hungry!

Ha!  If it was only 3.5 lbs.  IMFL then a cruise then, Thanksgiving, then another trip, then Christmas.  It goes on so much easier than it comes off

Happy New Year's everyone!  While waiting to go out for a couple of hours with hubby to celebrate...I am obsessing over my training plan.  The 1/2 Iron training plan in BT seems too easy to me in that I am really slow and will most likely take 7:30-8 hours to complete the 1/2.

So far my longest ride has been only 26 miles...thinking I should work up to at least 65 miles by the first week of May.  I am slow at an avg of 14-16 mph, so I figure my ride will take 4 hours. Do I have time to work up to 65 miles (or 5 hours) on the bike?  Any thoughts anyone?  I am guessing I should be faster on the flat Florida course, at least I HOPE so.

The run is another matter entirely...I will be doing a walk/run most probably...now only running 4-5 miles at 12-13 min/mile.

Swimming is not a problem..figure I can do that on any given day in 38-40 min for 1.2 distance.

So, what is everyone doing so far?  Am I really far behind already?

Thanks for your thoughts anyone!

Mona

Mona, right there with you.  Time to get it in gear right?

I've kept up some since IMFL but the bike is where I seem to really be slacking.  Can you tell which is my least favorite discipline?

Swimming in not an issue, doing more than that in practice.  This is the one discipline I've kept up on because it is the easiest on the body and is the most structured for me (swimming with team twice a week).

Running, have a trail half marathon this weekend so have been putting in some miles but not what I normally do for a half.  I think my longest run has been 10 miles and even that was hard.

Biking, hmmm.  Since IMFL I have ridden 3 times and once on the trainer.  But, I've gone out the last 2 weekends so am starting to get back into it.  I'll start on the trainer this week too.  Longest ride in the last 2 months s about 45 miles.

We will do just fine.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Duane.  I am going to focus on the bike to get the mileage up to build endurance because it's less stressful on the body than running..of which, at this point, I dread.  So today I'll be on computrainer for at least 2 hours or 30 miles whichever comes first :-) followed by a run (better described as a shuffle) of 30 min just to get into the swing of things.

This race will be my first HIM as well. Ive done many sprint races but I opened my mouth on fb about wanting to go to this race..and what i got for xmas was an entry into floridas half..i was beyond happy and excited..plus with the new running shoes and now a full body wetsuit to practice ows before may will surely help.

i have been following BT training plan since jan 2.  Ive not found it too easy to do at all..in fact its been a huge help on the swimming part since its my weakest sport.  Im not the least bit worried about the bike or run.  Im like a few on here..im not missing a workout at all..i cant afford it with the race five months away.  This is a true challange for me..but im willing to push through it all and prove to myself that I can do it.

Cheers.

Just curious if anyone knew how long the trip is from the wilderness lodge in disney to the new race site?  Already had a vacation planned around the race and they moved it.  Some of the things that I've read said that it was close but that was all promotional stuff.  Sometimes they can be a bit confused on some of those things.
