Total Time = 1h 26m 1s
Overall Rank = 127/317
Age Group = W40-44
Age Group Rank = 1/13
Pre-race routine:

Ate two fudge pop-tarts and a glass of milk. Sipped on water before the race. I helped the Team Nebraska Triathlon grupo set up for the lunch afterwards.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 17m 33s
  • 850 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

There were about 100 people per wave with a beach start. I started towards the front and had lots and lots of contact. I got beat up on this race much more than the Ironman with 2200 people! I went at a medium-fast pace for me (about 1:45/100yd perceived effort) then sprinted around the slower swimmers. I passed quite a few from the wave infront of me. I think that this course was a bit long for the effort that I put into it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

I forgot my towel and sunglasses at home. Can't believe that it made this much difference in my T1 time, but I'll take it!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 39m 32s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.87 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike odometer said that it was 13.02 miles, and I just had it recalibrated. Pushed it hard on this course. I have logged about 300 miles of biking this whole season, so knew that I needed to really push it to get a good time. I had a hard time on the uphills. This is usually my strength, but hard due to lack of training. Plus, with a three loop course, there was always somebody to pass......
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Another fast transition. Helmet off as soon as I racked the bike, bike shoes off, tennies on...gone.
Run
  • 27m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs felt completly drained after the bike. So I decided to race at a pace that was a bit faster than my "confortable" pace, but I could still talk. Met Jeff on the run who was looking strong. A footbridge halfway through was bouncing up and down with all of the runners, so felt quite wobbly under my already wobbly legs.
What would you do differently?:

Push a bit more the entire run. This is a slow 5k for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk, eat, get award, home.
