Subject: Garmin 405 Route Uploading

A few months ago I bought one, and discovered the routes can't be uploaded to BT due to the .tcx file format.  At the time the word was that this was in the 'pending fixes' list.

I just saw a nice picture of a 405 in a banner ad that declared the device is supported, so I tried again, and still can't upload routes.  What's the status please?

I just uploaded a route today and had no problem with my 305 . . . with the uploading anyway.

This week and last I've had +50 mile routes that when I hit 'reset' elevation give me a number in the 100,000 thousands (obviously off) this has been on two different routes on roads that have been around a long time. Fairly substantial climbs of more that 1500 ft on each.

Any suggestions? Thanks for all your hard work guys.

Jim

I'll be working on this over the next week.

yojimbo, the most likely cause is a bad datapoint in the USGS elevation dataset. There aren't many, but there are a few. Select "Show Points" and see if you can use the tooltips to identify the bad point, then move it just slightly. That might be enough to get a good value.

Stmass, Can you try to upload a route?  I just uploaded one from my 405. Make sure you have the latest version of Garmin Communicator first.

Downloaded Communicator version 2.7.3.0; works like a charm now, thanks!
