Run
Comments: I saw so many girls that I've never seen before and they took off in front of me. Since I had been sick, I was afraid to go after them. By the middleof the second mile, I was sweating much more than I thought I should've, so I just accounted it to the recent illness. By the end of the second mile, I thought I had wasted all my energy. I was exhausted! (Didn't see until after the end of the race how fast I was going) What would you do differently?: Not be sick for the week preceeding the race. Transition 1
Comments: Very happy with transition. Happy with taking shoes off as I put the helmet on and grabbed the bike and ran out of there. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Started off fast. Passed Lauren in the first 1/4 mile going 23 mph and then I thought, "What am I doing? I'm just coming off an illness, and she's in a relay so she's got fresh legs!" So I backed off a bit. Good thing too, because my second loop went slower than the first. What would you do differently?: Pace myself better coming off an illness, and not just keep trying to pass people just because I usually can. Transition 2
Comments: Getting tired, so went a little slower than I should've. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Really felt tired. After first mile one of the water stop volunteers told me that CJ was just up ahead of me and to catch him. I tried...I really tried, but was just too tired. In the last 1/4mile, the other Sharon (the one who was gaining on me but I beat in St. Anthony's) passed me. I know that once she passes me in the run, that's it. I didn't care. I'm just trying to get thru this so I wished her well and continued as best I could. What would you do differently?: Dig deeper. Post race
Warm down: Light jogging, getting Richard happy since he was so good in volunteering and sitting all morning waitinf for my trophy. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just came back from being sick for over a week. Last updated: 2005-04-28 12:00 AM

Jordan was grumpy this morning (can you imagine just because I got him up at 5AM???) so I just took Richard with me, of course wtih the obligatory stop at Dunkin Donuts before the race.
Got my bike out and got it set up for a little warmup. In that time, Richard took it upon himself to volunteer handing out chips, even "instructing" an adult volunteer there how to do it (he's only 9, but already a volunteer veteran).
Did a very short warmup on the bike, using new shoes for the first time. Also did a few sprints while running to one potty or another in the time before race start.
