Comments: Had a sip of water at the 2 aid stations and dumped the rest on my head -- it was starting to get a bit warm. Focused on steady breathing and foot cadence. Really not feeling pumped to race so had to just zone out and not think about it. Pretended Kristine and Julia were running next to me and they would give me grief if I slowed down. Made an agreement w/ my stomach at the start of the season that if it wanted to throw up that was fine, but I was not slowing down for it. Reminded stomach of the deal around mile 4 and it decided it didn't need to throw up after all. What would you do differently?: Not ride 56 miles the day before? But this was a PR by 4 minutes over last year's race so maybe I should do a long ride the day before every race. Post race
Warm down: Walked thru goody p/u, chatted w/ friends, had a couple Propels and part of a bagel, grabbed my bag, checked results and walked home w/ friends. Maybe should have stayed for the give-aways and massage and awards -- next time. What limited your ability to perform faster: Genetics. Not feeling competitive today. No pop in the legs. Event comments: Love this race -- beautiful setting, fast race, great volunteers, close to home and the $$ goes to Alpine Rescue. Last updated: 2009-07-27 12:00 AM
