Just curious if anyone had an opinion on how much time difference, if any, a person's stand alone5k time will compare to the 5k portion of a sprint.  A minute, 5 minutes?

From my experience it has been about 1 to 2 minutes depending on the course.

In my first sprint: about 4 mins but I was not well prepared for the race.
In my second sprint: about 1:30 - 2 mins
I think you shouldn't be that much slower but a lot depends on your bike/run fitness.

There's a lot of different factors here (course, bike/run fitness, etc.) but personally I have been about a minute slower

assuming properly trained for both events, same course, etc, i would think no MORE THAN 20 sec per mile, if that.

About 30 seconds, but I have also come pretty close to setting 5k PR in a TRI. 5k's seem to be more congested at the start and I found it easier to get a rythm in a Tri.

2 cents.

30 seconds to 1 minute if properly trained and if you raced smart.

A minute or two for me.  I run under 6:30/mile for standalone 5K and ~7:00/mi or just under for tri's.

This is about what my experience is as well.

About 5% after a good bike, 10-20% after a bad bike.
