What has your experience been with the life of things like tri shorts, I think that my swim suit has experienced a short life span due to poor care and high chlorine

I guess it depends on how often you use the gear. My tri suit is in it's 3rd year, but has really only been used maybe about 10 times (6 races and several practice tris). It hasn't seen chlorine so it's in good shape.
My training swimming suit on the other hand disintegrated after about a year due to the chlorine and constant use.
I read on here that rinsing your suit with cold water after your swim will help get rid of the chlorine better. Also they sell something called Suit Saver that is also made to help prolong your suit life. There are also chlorine resistant suits made now. Never tried one.
I'm sure there are others with more experience in this field. I can't talk since I still have a pair of Hind biking shorts that are about 10 years old-but they're so comfortable!

With the extreme tension that will be placed on my tri clothes (see the TriSausage thread), I am hoping my clothes will make it through one tri.
