Current water temp on 9/28 was 68F! I'm a wimp about cold water. I'm sure my wetsuit will be plenty, but it's still going to suck getting in.

I don't have a wetsuit!  Suggestions on keeping warm in the water?  "How cold" is 68?

Cold enough to warrent a wetsuit. I swam 2200 yds this AM in 73F water. It was ok and I got in quick. It actually helped that the air temp was 61 as it made the water seem warmer. 70F is probably my cut off w/o a wetsuit. You can rent one (Check out InsideOut Sports in Cary and Charlotte). You should practice in one before te race to get used to it. It will make you faster in the water as they are bouyant.

It depends on where you're from and what you're used to. It's certainly doable, I bet some people from up north would laugh at us for worrying. Just think of it as motivation to swim faster.

Took a test ride last night. Lots of turns early and hilly, at least for a hill wimp like me. I liked the turns, makes it fun, but I'm not sure how much I'll like them in a crowd.

Out on the main roads traffic will be very light, it was very light last night between 6 and 7. Some of the roads are very rough especially where they are doing some shoulder repair approaching the turnaround. Had several dogs chase us, but only one left the yard and it was playful not aggressive. I think, outside the neighborhood, that the roads are generally uphill going out. Not difficult, but it felt easier for me coming back.

I don't know where the dismount line will be, but we'll probably be coming in to it fast. I plan to start in almost my lowest gear so I can get clipped in safely starting up the hill. I'm betting everyone will be a little slower than normal on this course.

Great job Alan. Just for the record, I was dead last in my age group at my very first triathlon, so you beat my a$$ off! :-)

This being only my second tri, I really enjoyed it. Is it fair to say the bike/run course was considered hilly? It seemed that way to me...(any my time reflects it Undecided
