I got an email from my captain, Jerry Lourigan mid July, but when I tried to respond back to it, it bounced back.  I 've heard nothing since.   What about the rest of you?

I got e-mails from both of my captains.  I signed up for bike check and gear bags.  The e-mails were just introductory with more information coming later.

I signed up a couple of months ago and haven't heard anything.  I think I signed up for Finish Line but may have signed up for the run portion.

Finish line should have gotten an email from Rita.

I've received several emails...a couple from Rita and 2 from a more generic email...head honcho, I suppose.

Amy-I just checked the list of catchers for your name (Rita sent that out in July) and yours was not on it.  If you did sign up for catcher, you might be wait listed for it (it's a popular position).

I am signed up for three different volunteer jobs and have only heard from Rita regarding the catcher position.  I did get two odd emails a few weeks back but they seemed like they were sent in error.

Out of all the volunteer captains I've dealt with, Rita is one of the best.  She and Bill really coordinate the catchers very well.

We should be getting more emails soon, as the day gets closer. I'd say if you don't hear something by mid-August, you might want to check.  However, I will say that (if I recall) there have been times when I didn't get any email from some captains.

I volunteered for the sag wagon all day, and haven't heard a peep. The confirmation just said that I'd be contacted by Aug. 31, but it would help to know if they have some kind of training/briefing period before the race, so I could arrange my schedule necessary.

Volunteer meeting (for all volunteers) is the day before race day at the Terrace at 8 am.  If all else fails and you don't hear anything, I would plan on attending then.  Your captain(s) should be there for specific instruction after the general meeting.

Is there someone we can contact?  I have a HIM the day before IM WI and won't be able to make the pre-meeting.

Sigh of relief.  I got this note from the IM WI Volunteer Race coordinator today.

Hi Suzy,

You are still on the list.  The Captains will be sending more information out in the near future.  If you do not hear from them in a few weeks, feel free to contact me.

Thanks so much for volunteering!

Have a great day,

Agreed. I'm also on the SAG wagon. I'm supposed to drive it. Now THAT is scary, people. If you hear anything rcav, please let me know. I'm interested in knowing who the captain even is!

Is it too late to volunteer for IM WI?  Looks like I have the date open on my schedule.

Nope, not too late - lots of slots still open.

I just nabbed a bike course marshall shift from 7:40 to 9:15 at the corner of Rimrock and Lake George. Think I can wave my donkey flag as a course marshall?

I got emailed last night by the bike course marshall captain. The gist - come get your t-shirt Saturday morning or earlier.

Still waiting to hear on sag wagon duties. I have no idea if they want me to drive my truck (under equipment, I told them I had a quad cab pickup), be a passenger, what route(s), what exactly to do if someone drops, etc.

I also haven't heard anything. I even sent an email to the alleged volunteer director. Sheesh they must not need help that bad. Funny thing is I'm not doing it to get a spot next year, even, I'm just trying to give back to the tri community. Hey, IMWI, if you want people to volunteer, it's not a good idea to ignore them with less than three weeks to go.

The past 2 years I've usually been contacted by the volunteer coordinator 2 weeks before the event.  You can always email the volunteer coordinator for IM, but they are busy and might respond with copying your specific coordinator.  This year I have regular contact with the bike course coordinator so I'm more knowledgeable than in past years.

What I'm doing is not listed in the official volunteer positions (I don't think), but I still had to officially register for "sag wagon" I think.  So, I'm not really a sag wagon, but something like a coordinator, and it's:

"Bike course sector captain."  Help set the course in the morning and take it down behind the last biker around 1:30.  Training for my "sector" is Friday afternoon where I'll get cones and signs.  Sunday I meet other captains at 4:30a to finalize details and set up my section of the course.  Then, just patrol my section for needs, make calls for help in getting pointers, bike techs for breakdowns, or possible emergencies.

Tony - I HIGHLY recommend e-mailing your Captain if you know who they are, or at least the following to get the person in charge to push on the Captains, A.S.A.P. -
