Total Time = 1h 00m 8s
Overall Rank = 28/221
Age Group = Male 20-24
Age Group Rank = 3/8
Pre-race routine:

Ate two pieces of toast with jam and a yogurt at home 2.5 hours before the actual race. I ate another piece of toast about .5 hours before the race and a small amount of Powerade.
Event warmup:

After setting up transition I tested the water temperature and decided that I would be best not to do a warm up swim in an effort to keep my muscles warmer. I did a few stretches to prepare for the swim as well as a few leg stretches.
Swim
  • 10m 4s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 31s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good swim however I need to work more on technique as well as general endurance. I need to add some interval training to my swimming training.
What would you do differently?:

Pay slightly more attention to where I was in respect to other people in my wave. There was not a lot of people swimming around me and I didn't know if i was in the front or back of the pack.
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Trouble getting shirt and number belt on.
What would you do differently?:

I need to purchase either a tri-suit or atleast a tri-shirt so that I don't have to put on a shirt at T1. That is where I lost a great deal of time.
Bike
  • 33m 7s
  • 10.56 miles
  • 19.13 mile/hr
Comments:

My bikes rear de-railer was mis-aligned and I was unaware of how to solve the problem at the time. I have since become more familiar with this particular part of my bike. I also lost my water bottle for my bike before the race.
What would you do differently?:

Have adjusted my rear de-railer and been able to zip up my shirt. Also bring a spare water bottle.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
What would you do differently?:

Try putting baby powder in my shoes ahead of time for easier entry in to my shoes.
Run
  • 15m 24s
  • 2.49 miles
  • 06m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt out of energy rather than reaching my physical limits.
What would you do differently?:

Have better pre-race nutrition so that I would have had more energy in the run.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of hydration on the bike which haunted me through the run. Also I think poor nutrition that morning affected my performance. I need to have ate more earlier in the morning as well as hydrated more.

Event comments:

The race is very short but is great for beginners like me.

Great race! I don't think your speedometer needs to be re-calibrated. I think the bike course was actually more like 11.5 miles than 10.5 miles.
