Monty - 2010-08-04 4:50 PM Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread (which I miss btw!) but I have a really dumb question for everyone. This is something I noticed at 2008 and 2010. Why is the clock in the photo of your finish (which clearly shows you crossing the line or even past it) always one second faster than your official time? I know it doesn't mean anything, but I was really curious. Is the timing mat actually past the arch? The IM logo mat seemed to be both before and after the arch so not sure where they actually pick you up at. Not a big deal, but I need something post IM to talk about.

The timing mat is tripped by your chip, but the photograph is taken by a person.  I think the more celebrating you are doing (ie stopping and walking over the line pointing to heaven, which I am not hating on at all if that's anyone's thing), the chip time and photo time are less likely to agree... whereas if you zip right through then there's a very good chance the times will match... because the photographer will have only had a split second to take your picture.

I would definately agree with you, but in almost every finishing picture I see of people crossing at the event, they are through the arch when the picture is taken. The feet don't lie! If anything I would think the photographer being a human reaction to the situation would be the slower of the two. I think the mats are a little behind the actual finishing arch and you have to be all the way through for the chip to trip. Not a big deal, just it is funny seeing different times on there. By the way you are my hero my man. What a fantastic race you had! Go Phillies!

I was wondering the same thing. The 2010 thread started just a few weeks after the race.

I am ready to get it going. I suppose the 2011 Race Page needs to be set up first before the new "Official" thread can get going?

Does anyone know how to setup the 2011 Lake Placid Race Page?

Well, I hope I am not being too presumptuous, as I am a long-time lurker  but only first-time poster to the BT forums - but I have just set up the new "official" thread here:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=226732

so let's get on with it, shall we?
