Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had breaky and packed the family in the family-mobile. Dropped the wife and kids off in the festival area, and drove over to the parking. Got all suited up.
Event warmup:

Jogged over from the parking area. Didn't know how things were going to unfold today with the sore leg. Had a huge charleyhorse from taking my centrefielders knee on Saturday morning.

Comments:

Thought I was going to bail after 5k. My thigh was throbbing, but I had to catch the crazy Bro-in-law who I knew would be bonked after the 1st 5k loop. No way I quit since I hadn't passed him yet.. Sure enough saw him at 6k walking, I ran passed him at close to 7k and didn't really see him again other than his quick sprint to get ahead of me again for 200m!! Was able to push through the last few kms, but was done when I hit the finish. think I am going to pay for it the next few days. Ran the last 5k about 1 minute faster than the 1st half.
What would you do differently?:

Start out quicker.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung our family. Had a great setup with bounce houses, music, ice cream, face painting, etc. Kids loved it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The charleyhorse.

Event comments:

Was a fun run. Good cause with it being for the Ronald McDonald House. They had lots of music on the run, guessing about 7 bands over the 5k.
Was a great family-friendly race. Lots to keep the kids busy while we ran.
