I'm actually really happy about this change.  I always try to focus on hills every other ride down to RI and the other time I do sprints up a very gradual incline (2-3%, 200m).  I'm pumped about the added hill because it will be just like the one I usually ride but about 3 miles closer :D

Yup very fun race. I finished 3rd in my group (Clyds). There were a lot more racers than I expected. The bike course was a mess though. They allowed cars to drive out on the park roads during the race, which was a mess because that section had both runners and riders at certain points of the race. All in all it was a blast. Wish I met some of you.

It was a good race.  But I agree that they should of blocked off the road from cars.  At one point I saw going in opposite directions trying to figure out how to pass each other, it was an interesting.  I had a good time and also wish that I had met some BTers.

Agreed...I unfortunately had a horrible bike split b/c apparently the 1/2 bagel I ate almost 3 hrs before the race didn't agree with the pond water that I swallowed.  Four minutes on the side of the road at mile #3 of the bike leg.  Otherwise my 198th position finish would have been about 120ish overall and I would have pushed the run a little more.  Oh well.  Pretty good for my first.

PS.  Does anyone know what happened to the guy that went down on the fast left between miles 2 and 3?  It was probably about 1/4 mile before the hard right with the cones going down the median.  I was about 50 yards behind him when he went down and slowed down til he said he would be fine.  However, moving at almost 25 mph going around the turn I wasn't able to be completely sure.  Told the volunteer down the road and apparently the ambulance was there in minutes.  JW

Congrats to all on a great race.

I did see the guy who was injured on his bike. He looked OK. Road rash down one side. He was sitting up talking, I'm guessing they took him to the hospital as a precaution.

I had a blast volunteering. Hope to do this tri next year. Thanks to all who participated. I used to work in the NICU...you all raced for a great cause!!!!

Gazelle, I must have been right behind or in front of you because I was the guy that locked up his brakes going sideways because I couldn't stop fast enough. I also told the woman at the turn that there was a guy down at mile 2.5. I'm glad he was alright. A large truck also stopped to let riders know there was a man down.

you must have been directly in front of me...there was 1 guy between me and the fall so I'm guessing it was you.  That was a nasty corner though.  I'm glad more people didn't get injured going around it.

orange,
the girl in your photos within your race report - i remember swapping passes early during  the bike with her on rt 16, then she smoked by me handedly in the run after the turnaround - most impressive girl

gazelle,
If not for your delay, we would likely have come down the finish shute together!

Funny, to make small connections amidst so many new faces..

Well...It's kinda tough to miss the guy losing breakfast on the side of the road :P

I probably could have done better and pushed the run a little more too but I knew I was out of the running and just wanted to finish w/o feeling it for the next week since I have tests on Thurs/Fri.  Really didn't want to be trying to study w/ throbbing legs if u know what I mean

I go to grad school with that girl and convicted her to do the race about 2 or 3 weeks before hand.  I did one other race with her in August and she is a competitor.

Just curious about the run distance on this race.  The site says 3 miles, but I heard murmuring on the day of the race that it was more like 3.5.  Any official word?
Do the bike and run courses change year to year?
Thanks !
