So who is all doing this race? I have not decided if I will do it or not. I just need to get my first Olympic under my belt.

I'm also doing the Sprint distance race. As a warm up for my HIM in Sept.  I am looking forward to it.

I'm doing this! Looking forward to it!
I have a HIM in Sept., which is what I'm really focused on, but this will be a good chance to practice my transitions and do some "speed work" before my HIM, which will be pretty slow and very long.

I'm doing the Olympic.  I'm so focused on my marathon right now that I haven't been training much for this, but I'm going to go have some fun!

Hey Amy!  Glad to see you're coming back again!

Good luck everyone!

just a whining question but why are the sprint and mini/OLY costs higher for this race than for other HFP races? I wasnt going to do this race but a friend wants me to do the OLY distance with him (his first crack at the distance). I look an see it is 80$ for OLY registration. All the other HFP races are 65$ a week from race date for an OLY distance. Do we get something extra for 15$? I want a discount because I only get 1000m of swimming instead of 1500m

Well, it's less than a week away. I think you missed the cheaper pricing. The site says the fee went up July 31.

Also some of their races have a price break if you register for the whole series or something, I think.

Not sure! Sorry! I am only doing this and the Toyota Challenge HIM by HFP this year, so I knew the cost on those would be different and didn't pay much attention.

I think I paid $80 for  Fat Rabbit race 2 months ahead of time, though, if it makes you feel any better...

Tammy,
Alice is my wife. So I'll vouch for her. She's OK. (how's that for a ringing endorsement? ) You can PM her and get out site # if you're staying at the CG.

Thanks for letting me know David.  I didn't know ahohl was your wife. COOL!  Does that mean you'll be at the race?

Not camping this year.  Fred's got a boy scout event, and I'm a wuss and won't drive the motor home, so I'm coming up race morning.

Don't feel bad Chris, you're doing the sprint and I'm doing the Olympic, and we will probably be out on the run together!  LOL!

Point is that it doesn't matter.  Go out, have a great time and challenge yourself.  That's what its all about!

I'll be in for at least the sprint distance. I have let summer fun get in the way of training here lately. I will have to decide on the sprint or OLY within the next few minutes before I sign up

BTW, has anyone checked the water temp at CJ Brown here lately? Just wondering if it will be wetsuit legal. The wetsuit is simply a security blanket for me, being as I have only done 1 ows.

Kind of a newbie here and a very bad swimmer, but i'm doing the Mini. Was going to campout or stay in a hotel up there, but for 26 dollars think that i'm going to do the camping and make a weekend of it.

OK, glad to hear some folks are camping!

The campground is not that big, so we should be able to find each other based on bikes.

We have a vehicle that looks like this:

And it has a USAT bumper sticker below the back window.

Also two big black slobbery dogs and two small dirty children.

We're on the main loop.

Come say hi!

Oh no, our camper looks like a square with a small red "x" in the upper left hand corner!?

Oh, and forget the dogs, they're not coming.

So what is everyone doing nutrition wise for the Olympic race? I was planning on just using water and gel. I have never done a hard ride followed by a hard 6 mile run before. I hope I don't run out of energy with a few miles to go.
