Comments:

I was so nervous about this swim that my Heart Rate was over 100 while waiting my turn on the pier, I got into the water and swam a bit but had to turn over and catch my breath on my back before getting even close to the first bouy. I really need to work on this.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, I need to just slow down, but keep going toward that first bouy and see if I can't make it without resting.
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

I trying doing this with my shoes clipped in and couldn't get my feet on top of the pedals. I ended up almost falling and then knocking my left shoe off the pedals. I had to stop and get off the bike and put it on and then clip put my foot on top of the right shoe. I would have been faster if I had just put on the shoes in the transition area. I also forgot my power gels, left them on my towel in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, I'm going to put on my shoes in the transition area and run out with them. And, I think I'll swim with my Gu already in my pockets so I won't forget them or at least put them in my helmet.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 34s

  • 16.32 mile/hr
Comments:

This course just shows that I need more hill experience and more distance. My speed was good but the hills really killed me. I need to work on that.
What would you do differently?:

More hill preparation before the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

This was a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

I think I'll work on getting the GPS changed to a different sport while moving.
Run
  • 51m 34s
  • 4 miles
  • 12m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a great run. I guess that not having enough strength on the hills in the bike, simply made this run much harder. I felt good during the run, but I cramped at mile 3. I really couldn't hammer the run like I wanted. I just need to get in more time on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Need more time on the bike and some bricks before the next one.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fear of the lake made the swim less than optimal, not enough time on the bike made the ride exhausting and having pooped out on the ride, I didn't have enough left for the run.

Good job. It was a tough race in hot conditions.

Hey, try taping the gels to the frame of the bike. tape them at the part that tears off, so when you pull it off, the top stays taped to the bike and you wind up with an opened gel in your hand.

Great Job! It was a tough race, and I agree with the comment that it showed how much work I need on the bike.

Nice Race, the swim will get easy once you get more open water swims in, and x2 on taping the gels to the bike frames, makes them alot easier to get to also!
