Pre-race routine:

Up at 3:30am. Porridge and cup of tea. picked up John and on road at 4.30am. arrived at 6am so registered relaxed and set up transition. chiiled out had energy bar and banana and down to start at 8:30 for briefing with wave start at 8:40

light jog. into water first and swam about for a couple of minutes.

A perfect swim. never boxed in or struggling for breath. Swam very straight so didnt have to sight too much. Loved it

Hard as expected. cramp at 8k in both thighs made me walk for 2 lots of 1 minute up to finish.

lack of training.

Well organised and everyone helpful and full of encouragement. run route let it down and had it been wet the run would have been a nightmare due to mud.

Congratulations Dave on completing the Olympic!  It looks like you've had a great summer of racing with a couple of PR's!  You're kicking butt with the running as well!  Won't be long and you'll be running a Marathon!
