Trying to decide what i want to keep on my bike - course has some hills so trying to minimize weight.Assume a reasonably well supported bike course.I'm thinking about a few gels, a 44oz aero drink, CO2, tube.Anything I'm not thinking about?

2 spare tubes, 2 CO2s w/inflator, multitool w/tire levers & couple dollar bills (to use as temporary 'boot' in case of larger tear in tire)--either under seat in bag or in bento box behind stem.

1 or 2 bottles on bike depending on distance between aid stations. One horizontal between aero bars and the other on the frame, if necessary.

Gels in flask(s) in jersey pocket.

I've only done 1 HIM so far.  It was in WV, and the road surface was extremely rough, there were hills, and the temp was in the mid-90's.

I had:
Full aero bottle
2 spare tubes
3 co2 cartridges
tire tool
1 Clif Bar
1 Power Bar
1 pack of Power Bar Gel Blasts

Tubes, tool, and cartridges were in my saddle bag.  The bars and gel blasts were in my bento box.  My bottle cages were empty to start the race.

I did not carry any spare bottles.  Once my aero bottle was getting low, I just grabbed full bottles at aid stations.

I ran race wheels with tubulars, so I had:

1 bottle Vittoria fix-a-flat taped to my seat tube - no other bike tools or supplies

1 Gu flask strapped to top tube w/5 Gus inside

1 aero drink bottle of water

2 20oz bottles of Accelerade in frame cages

1 serving of dry Accelerade to mix with hand-up water in jersey pocket

1 baggie with fig newtons and ginger snaps in other jersey pocket

Yes, I was a rolling buffet.  It is interesting that the other responders live almost completely off of the land.  I was nervous about trusting my race-day nutrition to the race folks so I brought everything except the extra water with me.

This year, I will have:

1 bottle of Vittoria fix-a-flat taped to my seat tube

1 aero-bottle of water (maybe - depends on weather)

2 bottles of Gu2O in frame cages

4 Gus in my bento box

1 envelope Gu2O to mix with hand-up water in jersey pocket

1 contingency package of Chomps in bento box

possibly a couple of ginger snaps for the valley of darkness also in bento
