Swim
Comments: I felt out of breathe for most of the swim portion. The swim time included an approx 300m run to the transition area which also included a rather steep hill up a sand dune. What would you do differently?: Practice more swimming in the wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: Overall good for my very first transition. I was a little out of breathe from my swim so took a moment here to breathe which probably ended up wasting 20-30 seconds. What would you do differently?: Practice a little more and not worry about drying off. Bike
Comments: I started out slowly because I was still feeling winded from the swim. My pace improved on the 2nd half of the course. Maybe I didn't push myself hard enough though as I only averaged 18.15mph. Or was everyone just really fast?! What would you do differently?: I need to practice more speed drills on the bike and tough hill climbs to build leg strength. Push myself harder in the beginning. Transition 2
Comments: Not bad for my first T2 transition. I spent time here putting on socks because I wanted to be more comfortable in the run. I didn't drink enough on the bike so I had a drink here which probably wasted another 15-20 seconds. What would you do differently?: Run harder out of transition. Don't drink in transition. Drink more on bike or at run aid station. Run
Comments: I felt hot the entire run. I didn't feel like drinking much either though I should have. Right quad started cramping around mile 2 most likely due to dehydration. What would you do differently?: Drink more! But overall I was very happy with my time. I even beat my 5k time that I ran this summer and that was just a run alone! Post race
Warm down: Walked. Drank water and electrolytes, ate a banana, stretched. I should have paid for the massage! Walked around a lot and waited for results to be posted. Tried to remain in the shade as it was quite hot out and only getting hotter as the day went on. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to train harder. I was actually surprised I was that slow on the bike because going in I thought that would be my stronger leg of the race. Event comments: Overall it was very well organized. It seemed as though there was a volunteer for every 3-5 racers. Everyone was very friendly and the organizers were both helpful and informative. I will definitely be back to do this race again next year. Last updated: 2009-08-11 12:00 AM

Showered, ate a Clif bar and a banana and has some water to drink. I wish that I had my IPOD to listen to while relaxing before the race start.
Rode a few miles to the race sight. Stretched and relaxed.
Swam in wetsuit for 5 minutes (15 min before race start)
