Comments:

Felt really good on the swim. It took till the first turn to get out ot the crowd, but then again I somewhat enjoy the "fighting" on the swim. I know I could have swam better if I would have trained for it. I was happy to have been 9th in my AG coming out of the swim. (that 9th place would not last for long on the bike)

Comments:

Looonnnng run and a staircase to the T1 area, so that was part of the 2.5 mins, the other was me taking a little to long getting my socks on.

Comments:

This bike course is hilly. I knew it coming into the race, but it still kicked my butt. Oh yea the lack of riding leading up to the event may have played a part also. You start off on a big downhil that you can fly down from 35-40+ mph depending on how brave you are. Then it seems like the next few miles are uphill. There where a few parts that looked flat but I could only manage 13-14 mph and the folks around me as well, but I kept on going and passed a good many riders on the course, however was passed as well more than once. The last hill is about 1/4 mile from the finish and is a big steep hill. I put it in a small gear aon gave it my all maybe going 6mph passing people and feeling good. My wife was at the top of the hill cheering and as I got to the top I made the mistake of trying to change gears at the wrong time and threw my chain. I had to jump off and struggle to get the chain back on. It was a little jammmed and me trying to do this fast only slowed me down. I guess I lost 2 minutes here. On this last hill I saw someone walking the bike up and my wife saw another one or two walking.

Comments:

The run.....I like to run and was hoping that I would be albe to run well this day, but my legs had other ideas. Again the run is a little hilly but not to bad. I started out and thought OK maybe I will have fair run and about 1/2 mile in, I could tell the bike/hills had worn me out. I kept a fairly steady pace for the first 2 miles and then the 3rd I know I was slowing. My legs just where dead and it got to me mentally. I belive looking back I somewhat quit on the run. I never stopped running I just think I could have pushed and done better. I am a little disappointed in the run.
What would you do differently?:

push harder

Event comments:

The race was good, it is in a great location and challenges you. They had plenty of water on the run this year, the run is out and back so you had 4 water stops. The post race food this year was not that great, some pretzels, chips and bananas, what happened to the pizza?

Great job - they didn't have grilled stuff? For the Oly, the day before, the Fire Dept. was there grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs...I can't remember if they were there on Sunday - I just had food with my tri team - we bring our own grill

That bike course has a lot of false flats.
