Subject: Mounting STI on cow horn Aerobar question
Hi
I have bought some Profile Alumin X aerobars and was wondering if people use STI, and if so how they installed them. IE when I mount the STIs the brake cable comes straight out of the top. Can anyone shed some light on how they did it...

I've seen it done on some of the Pros bikes in Mags but can't get a close up of how they did it.

You're noticed the difficult in mounting STIs on aerobars.  There is no way to make the brake cable go flush (90 degree turn) to the cow horn.

By the very nature of the way the STI pulls on the brake cable (at a 90 degree angle to the brake hood) it would cause a dramatic decrease in braking power...if it would work at all...if you forced the brake cable at a 90 degree turn immediately once it exited the brake hood.

the only option is to have both cables (gear and brake) extrude out of the STI making your cow horns basically look like an insect.
