Swim
Comments: COLD! Feet and hands went numb pretty much immediately and everytime the head went into water, a brain freeze set in. Tried to get some kind of breathing rhythm down but exhaling was a challenge. Putting the face in the water hurt enough that it was hard to exhale. Had to swim once and a while with the head out of the water until the face went numb and then swam the last 150 as normal. What would you do differently?: Swim in cold water more for training? Transition 1
Comments: T1 was tough. Hands and feet were still numb which made it a challenge to work the fingers. Not a bad T1 time considering..... Bike
Comments: Dissapointed in the bike. Thought I cruised through it pretty well. I was actually excited awaiting to find out my pace and then dissapointed that it was 19.4 average. Damn. Felt good the whole time but by the look of my splits, mile 7 was 16.4, mile 8 was 17.4, and mile 14 was 18.1. Take those out of the mix and my pace was 21.6 Not sure what happened there...no bad hills. Not sure.... What would you do differently?: Train harder on the bike I guess...I even had Zipp 404'sfrom Stadium Bike...definitley dissapointing. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Need to work on dissmounting but overall pretty good. Little scare when I went to take off my bike shoes....my right calf cramped for what was only 5 secs or so but it was an oh shit moment. Run
Comments: Good run. Legs felt comfortable getting off the bike and I was hoping for negative splits which I got. Could have pushed harder and kept all under 7 but still happy with it. What would you do differently?: Missed the finish chute and had to cut across the grass to get to it. Cones were set up a little confusing. Other than that I wouldn't do anything different. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a water and then went and met up with Marla, my dad and dan, Jack Todd, Parker, Carol and Jill. What limited your ability to perform faster: Chest congestion! Not sure if it was the allergies or a chest cold. No wheezing but definitley full of stuff. Event comments: Pretty good for a local event. Could of used a few more volunteers and coning but overall not bad. Last updated: 2009-08-22 12:00 AM

Manitowoc - Two Rivers YMCA
60F / 16C
Overcast
Overall Rank = 40/200
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 7/17
Drove 45 mintues from Green Bay to the YMCA in Manitowoc. Parked the car, unloaded the bike and headed to the YMCA building. Went inside to use the bathroom as there were no porto potties for the event. Should have been. Went to the registration tent to get the number 69 put on my arms and pick up my chip. Yes, my bib number was 69.
Stood in the water, which was 56 degrees and let my feet get numb. Dove under water a couple times trying to get used to it.
