Sunny
Total Time = 1h 09m 59s
Overall Rank = 130/500
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 14/34
Pre-race routine:

4AM wakeup call - prepare typical protein shake/double espresso shots with tpical supplements plus 2 slices 7grain bread / PB. Stretch, drive 1:15 to a rather disorganized entry to parking area (stressful)
Event warmup:

stretch arms, swim to buoys a few times, make the water around me a lil warmer...hehehe.
Swim
  • 07m 19s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

avg swim with great navigation. this time I stayed on the inside fromthe shore and that helped speed up and complete the course faster.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster/more efficiently. Learn my abilities and push it more. Learn to draft
Transition 1
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

first time started race with pedals on bike - this allowed me to run faster thru T1. Overall great speed, had to run to far end of T to get to bike
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 29m 18s
  • 10.6 miles
  • 21.71 mile/hr
Comments:

this was a tough ride - stronger riders than avg. finished 11 in cat
the headwind wasnt real strong bubt annoying
What would you do differently?:

monitor my fluid intake alil better - dont feel bloated, try a not so strong flavor gel
Transition 2
  • 49m 30s
Comments:

- I think I was the first bike outta my rack.
- preview course especially entry back to T.
- had to run all the way to back and back to front on T even tho my rack was the first - organizer's rules I didn't know. On and Off bike jump worked great!
- Still, I was first bike back on rack.
What would you do differently?:

ask about T flow. predetermine where to pull off shoes/pedals. Might have lost some time for pulling feet much too early, surpised about long run with bike to get to rack. This added an extra 30-40 secs
Run
  • 27m 12s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

very good feel on this run, spped was just right and on target.
kept cool by drinking and spilling 1 cup water each. Finished with a sprint
What would you do differently?:

check the course and avoid surprises.
Post race
Warm down:

a lil bit of stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

swim as well as T2

Event comments:

all FDS races are very popular and well attended. Finishing 14/34 in AG as well as 130/500 OA is a great personal success. great race.

personal time record shows 1:07:10 but this data reflects official results

Olman, congratulations on your race! You are in a very competitive AG - 1:13 pace on the swim? 21.7 amph on the bike? Great job!

Have you found an Olympic to do?

And here I was complaining about my swim being 215th overall - that's a great pace!  Thx for pointing it out.

no but I have been super busy with work and haven't really looked Surprised.  What's the name of the OLY series in Jan?
It sounds like the right time of the year.  Let me know.

Im also posting a couple of pics now.
