Comments: I was debating the wet-suit, but at the last minute I decided to go with it for practice. I was #58- makes me wonder what I put down as my projected time? The water was C-O-L-D, and as soon as I got in my mask partially-filled (1st time using a cap). Nontheless, I was up with the speedy folks and didn't hold anyone up. Fortunately it was only a 250 :) Transition 1
Comments: It all went pretty well considering...the racks were tight. I had to take the suit completely off before entering the racks. It all went pretty well until I dripped water into my sunglasses and decided to take them off while running to the bike start. I had a hard time getting them back on which screwed up my hopping onto the bike. What would you do differently?: Leave the sunglasses on! Bike
Comments: My one gripe- there was no-one that I could see in front of me and I'm trucking down the road and come to an intersection with a traffic cop standing there. When I'm 5 feet in front of him (going a good 25mph) he points to tell me to turn. WTF? He was looking at me for 300 yards- he couldn't have put his arm up earlier. Personally, I think he didn't look happy to be there and didn't care. Anyway, that pissed me off. Overall a great bike though (see post race comments for why:) What would you do differently?: I probably could have gone a bit harder without affecting the run too much. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition Run
Comments: Pretty good run. It took me a good mile to get my legs back, and the few people who cruised by me all finished within 20 sec or so, so I definitely didn't get dusted. What would you do differently?: Should have focused on a faster leg turn-over for the first mile or so. Post race
Warm down: Fluids and some stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to work on the swim, bike, and run :) Event comments: A VERY well run event. Plenty of food, give aways, etc. Super friendly organizers. I'll definitely do this one again. High point of the day- I'm hanging around the finish doing some spectating when this guy comes up and tells me that I looked great on the bike. Then he tells me that I have no idea what was going on behind me, and that I was the target for a little chase pack (I guess they really weren't worried about the whole drafting thing) and that they not only couldn't reel me in, but that I kept on widening the gap. Nothing like a little ego boost after a race :) Last updated: 2005-04-21 12:00 AM

Packed the car the night prior. Woke up at 0430, had a whole wheat bagel and a cup of coffee, loaded bikes, wife, and daughter. Dropped daughter off at baby-sitter at 0530 and made it to the race right at 0600.
Not much, by the time we got bodymarked and went through the bathroom line it was time to start lining up.
