Pre-race routine:

No routine at all. I just wanted to finish. Ate an actual breakfast, a little over an hour before the start.
Event warmup:

Light stretching and a little running back and forth to the vehicle. Just before the start it started to rain.

Nota bad run. Tried not to overdo it and save some for the rest of the day. POURING DOWN RAIN!! Pouring!
What would you do differently?:

Not be unmotivated for the month before race!

Drank a few swallows of fluid. Poured the water out of my shoes and was off!
What would you do differently?:

It went fine. Maybe setup a big tent to keep the water off.

It was a nice ride, did I mention it was POURING down rain. Sheets of water just rushing across the road. Luckily during the 2nd loop the rain broke. The course took us past alot of the features in the park. Gardens and lakes. Alot of large Rhododrendrons blooming. Spectacular to see.
What would you do differently?:

I am just weak on the bike. I need more saddle time (and maybe some shoe adjustments). Maybe went a little too hard based on my inactivity.

Forgot to hit the split on my watch. Went fine, poured water out of my shoes (again) and off I went. This one went quicker than T1.

I had trouble on this run. Almost immediately me knees didn't want to go anymore. I ended up walking some between the 2 and 3 mile point. I am glad it was a low key race, I don't think there will be any photos for me to post in the "Most painful/ goofy expressions" thread. I did manage to shuffle through the chute and finish in under 2 hours. GOAL MET!!!
What would you do differently?:

Train more/ continue training.

Warm down:

Met my wife and walked around. Went to the pavillion to fill out my finishers card and get something to eat. Stretched a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of recent preparation.

Event comments:

I enjoyed this race, inspite of my performance.
