I usually use IE for browsing but I use Opera for sites like BT because they have an auto page reload every ? minutes so that I don't have to keep hitting refresh.

I sing the praises of Firefox everytime I can. NO POP UP ADS. No files attaching themselves to your system. It's fast, more user friendly, and did I mention there are NO POP UP ADS!

Got started with tabbed browsing in Opera, but it started to suck a little much for me, so I switched to Firefoz and I've been very happy with it. But that's on the only Windows PC in the house. The penguin boxes use Konquerer.

some websites I frequent do not support Firefox and I have no idea why.  I'd rather skip that site than give up Firefox.  Thunderbird for email is pretty cool too.

Can someone explain what the tabbing browsing everyone is talking about in Firefox and Opera? I may be using it in Opera but not sure what you are referring to.

It allows you to have more than one window and site open at a time.  To switch between windows, you just click on the tab.

I'm not familiar with exactly how tabbed browsing works in opera.. but in firefox you can either right click a link and choose "open link in new tab" or you can use "ctrl+t" and it will create a new blank tab for another page.

It allows you to view multiple web pages without bothering with the task bar..

It's nice

Regarding site compatibility IE vs. FF..

Lots of what you see that doesn't render correctly in FF is actually rendering how it is supposed to. It is be cause IE6 is actually not compatible with the latest CSS code and renders it incorrectly.

Then there are always the sites that require IE for activeX stuff and other micro$oft scripting..

I've been using the multiple pages on the same screen in Opera so I don't have to use the task bar like in IE. But I couldn't see how you can switch between the pages using the tab key like what dontracy mentioned. Oh well, no big deal. Thanks for the info though.

In Opera 6.0 for Mac, you open a "New Page" to open a site in a tab.  Using "New Window" opens a completely different window.

(I probably wasn't clear using the word "window" in my other post.  Using tabs, there is only one window but multiple tabed sites available unter the menu bar.
