Disappointment

I feel very fortunate to live in Texas! Especially out here in good 'ol West Texas where life seems to be a little slower and everyone is very friendly. Out on a ride this morning though and was very disappointed.

I was out riding the hills on the BSLT course which is here in Lubbock. I had climbed the two tougher climbs out in the back of the course and was coming up the long slow hill through the tree tunnel (anyone who has done BSLT will know where im talking about) when my chain broke. The 2 guys I was riding with left me to go get the car which was still a good 10 miles away and I started walking. 1 guy on a bicycle stopped to check on me, but he unfortunately didnt have a chain tool. I know that the course I was riding is in the middle of nowhere and there is not much traffic out that way, especially on a Saturday morning at 7:30, so I didnt expect to see many cars. But I was passed by 6 pick up trucks while I walked. I just knew that one of them was going to stop and offer to give me a ride! Not only did I not get offered a ride, but I didnt even get so much as a wave. Sure I look kinda funny in my blue and orange argyle spandex and jersey but lets go! If I had been riding alone this morning I was looking at a good 10 mile hike. I'm sure finding someone to come pick me up that early on a Saturday would not have been very easy.

Very disappointed in my fellow West Texans.
