Subject: Cycling shorts showing abrasion on one side only
I have been noticing that my cycling shorts seem to show wear on the inside of my thigh only on the right.  I have checked and my seat is dead on.  I think I probably am off kilter somehow on the bike or maybe it's because my right leg is stronger and I am somewhat out of balance, I don't know. It has to be rubbing on the saddle.  I have seen this on all of my shorts ever since I started riding.  I usually develop a hole in that area, then I know it's time to get a new pair.

I'm wondering, does anyone else experience the same in your shorts and is it something serious,Surprised and can it be fixed?

I had that problem for awhile and discovered it was my gear pack on the seat post. A little tiny tab of velcro was sticking out and snagged my shorts.

Holy Cow! That might be it.  I went and sat on my bike and my seat bag strap goes around the seatpost and the end is cut at an angle and it is right where the abrasion is.

How did you stop it?  I could put a piece of duct tape on it I suppose.

Same thing with my saddlebag.  Wore a hole in my shorts within 30 miles.

I used black electrical tape on mine.

Well I moved it up under my rear hydration unit so it is out of the way now.  I will see how that works.

Definately something to look at when buying a bag in the future.

If that's not it, have someone look at your knees when cycling. They should track straight up and down, my left leg "wobbled" until I got shims under my cleat on that side.

That's a good idea... stupid me for not thinking for that. I had the same issue... knew what it was, but just made the strap loose so the velcro was completely "velcro'd" down... tape would have be better so it's not shaking as much.... hmmm... now, what color electrical tape should I use? standard black or something that matches the bike?
