Pre-race routine:

we were camping and it rained really hard for 2 days prior to the race. I felt like I had the flu by race day morning. really not in the mood to race at all.
Event warmup:

Not really any warm up, just set up transition and lets get on with it.
Swim
  • 43m 6s
  • 2177 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt good on this swim. Especially considering my lack of preparation for this event.
Transition 1
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

I took my time in transition. I knew this is when the race really begins for me and I knew I was not prepared at all going in to this.
Bike
  • 3h 25m 30s
  • 56 miles
  • 16.35 mile/hr
Comments:

I really depend on the bike to be my strong leg. My friend blew out a tire a few times so I stopped to give up gear, probably costing me "precious"time, but what the hell... it's not like I was in the running to win this event anyway and it was his first half ever. I felt really bad for him. That's not why my bike sucked, I just wasnt' moving with those headwinds.
Transition 2
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

Stupid bike kept falling on the ground everytime I tried to rack it! Geez... anyway, I finally got myself together and got the hell out of transition.
Run
  • 2h 22m 30s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I knew my bike sucked and I needed to keep plugging along if I didn't want to come in last. By now both butt cheeks are on fire, cramping and the quads are starting in too. By mile 11 I'm ready to call it a day until I see Barbara. She runs with me to mile marker 13. She's awesome!
What would you do differently?:

Cut my toenails. I think I'm going to lose 2 and they hurt like hell.
Post race
Warm down:

Nice post race events/ give aways

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of preparation, although overall I ended up with a 21 minute PR. Who would have guessed? The crosswind/ headwind kind of sucked.Otherwise I can't complain. It's just a long distance no matter how you slice it, it's gonna be hard.

Event comments:

I was a little taken back after the awards, I came back to transition to get my stuff and it was like a free for all. Nobody was watching who was taking what and all of the transition barriers were down. WTF? Not that anyone wants my stuff, but I wouldn't want to have to buy it again. I could barely afford it the first time!
