This weather sucks.  I landed yesterday and it was 58 and rainy.  It's still 95 in Houston.  I might wear a full Gore-tex suit on Sunday. ;-)

At least it wasn't like down here in NYC.  We may have had a small tornado last night...all I know is I saw hail and a big- tree came down in my backyard all in a 5 minute span.

I'm driving up later on today - safe travels to all on the move today.

For the dinner on Saturday, is anyone organizing/making reservations, or are we just winging it?  I'm assuming it shouldn't be hard to spot the group of triathletes milling about at 530?

I was planning on doing registration & expo sat AM, a quick drive for course recon, then timing my bike drop-off to go for a swim after.

I am guessing a restaurant called Spaghetti Warehouse will probably have a lot of groups of triathletes milling around on the eve of the big race....

Safe travels everyone and good luck on Sunday!!

I hope to get to Jamestown Reservoir in time for the swim.  All my well-laid travel plans are shot as my mom (who was going to watch the kids so my wife and I could come up to the race) has gotten sick and probably won't be able to babysit.  I may be making the trip alone, but even that's up in the air.  I just love when the pre-race plans fall apart 24 hours before the race!  As if I wasn't nervous enough about the race itself!!! UGH!

Any "local" word on the weather?  The national weather service is calling for a bit of a yucky day...

Sunday: Showers ending by midday. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 40s.

I'm headed down to Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool to get in some riding/running.  If you see a guy on a red Felt with a disc wheel say hello.

I plan on making it up there.  I am not sure what time though.

I think we need to get BT Flags made up so we can claim our post at all these different sites.

eta - Looks like Marmadaddy is signed up for the race.  Maybe he could bring some BT brand materials?  Maybe tatoos?

I'll definitely be there with tattoos. Don't have much else at the moment.   Hoping to be at the swim, but I've got a lot going on this weekend.

I just looked at the waves, and I'm in one of the last two.  It's highly unlikely I will make it to the food tent in time to get something to eat.   The food tent closing at 2:30 thing amazes me.  So the 45-49 yo men have to finish in 6h 10m/ 6h 14m or we don't get anything to eat? And even if we bring food in our cars as a backup, it'll be at least half an hour before we can get to them?  To be blunt, that just sucks. I don't expect much in the way of amenities from races, but in a HIM or IM I do expect there to be something to eat at the finish line until the cut-off, particularly at these prices.

Looks like I'm going to have to bring money with me on the run so I can buy some food, and that's assuming I'll be able to find somewhere where I can buy food within a reasonable distance of the finish.

At the Musselman over 1/3 of that age group went over 6:10. Given this bike course and expected weather it's reasonable to assume a higher percentage will go over that. So, in effect, the race is designed to ensure that a significant portion of the field do not have access to food at the end of the race.

That is just incredibly poor race production.

Yeah, I'm screwed with regard to the food tent.  I'll probably be finishing around 3:00.  But the good news is I have all my logisitcal issues worked out and I'm heading up tomorrow morning.  Hope to see many of you at the practice swim!

The food sitch does sound pretty lame. Has anyone brought this up to the race director or any of the folks running the show? I'm not starting all that late, but I'm not fast. I'd like to have SOMETHING when I'm done with my race. And amen, Marma, about the price tag being high enough I should get some food...

So I can leave instructions with my wife to check the online results and order a pizza to be delivered to me at the finish if I'm done after 2:30?

Heard through a email in the cnytriathlon club from the race director that the 2:30 for the food tent was a typo, and it will stay open for all finishers to eat. So everyone will get their replentishment. I'm more looking forward to getting home in Syracuse and watching the Buffalo Bills on my 55" led tv with my favorite pizz, wings and ice cold beers. Anyone know if they have beer for free for racers after events like these? This is my first tri and I really love the mountain goat and boilermaker for the post parties. Explains why I will be on the course a long time.

Anyway, not a blog, but I wrote a short web story for my tv stations website about why I got into this sport and the race. Feel free to check it out and look out for my forecast later this weekend if you are in town on channel nbc3/5cbs and cw6.
