Total Time = 5h 33m 21s
Overall Rank = 5/180
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 5/6
Pre-race routine:

Packed the car the night before. Pumped up my tires in the parking lot. Listened to rockin music after transition set up in the car.
Event warmup:

I did some wind mills, that is all.
Swim
  • 36m 23s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt good for me but didn't like the fact that I was constantly passed by people from other waves.
What would you do differently?:

I suppose I need to be a more efficient swimmer by putting more power into my strokes.
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

I decided to wear my regular road biking shoes. I sat down in the grass and put on my socks and my shoes before running out of transition.
Bike
  • 2h 57m 42s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.91 mile/hr
Comments:

By the second lap I could feel my quads tightening up. It didn't feel good so I took it easier going south on rte. 7 into the wind. I lost alot of speed going up the hills. Going north the first time I got in an amazing rhythm and just killed it. I was passing people and flying up hills etc.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

I slowed down after racking my bike to catch my breath and put on my shoes. I knew my legs were going to be cramping so I tried to start slow.
Run
  • 1h 56m 32s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

quads were tight and sore from the bike. Hills slowed me down and I didn't push up them. I drank two drinks at every station and 1 gu at everyone. I almost made myself puke from all the gu. I don't know how else to do it though. Without the gu my knees would have hurt much worse. I ended up loosing two toenails to the run.
Post race
Warm down:

ate food and jumped back into the lake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing done wrong. just not being able to go faster. My lack of power on the bike and lack of speed work for the run.
