Well, it's been confirmed, I have a slipped disc in my neck...somewhere around vertabrae 5 &6...that's why I have no feeling in my thumb and forefinger. I am in physical therapy but had to miss the Danskin and now this weekend's Mad Beach Tri. I am soooooooooooooo dissapointed.

Anyone else ever experience this?

Wow, what a shame! I don't know anything at all about slipped discs; can you swim and bike (stationary) through your PT? What about deep water running?

If you can do any or all of the above, just think about how much stronger you'll be when you're healed. Good luck.

I have had athletes I work with suffer with bulges in the cervical area. My personal experience with heirniated discs is the lumbar area. I am as active as I ever have been. I keep myself fit and strong in the core to help minimize any problems. Good Luck with your neck. I hope it all turns out well.

I ditto everyone else's comments. That's a bummer. I can only suggest that you listen carefully to your doctor's advice and go to every one of your physical therapy sessions. I'm not sure what some of the treatments are. Are they talking surgery, or just neck exercises or what? Please let us know how you are doing. Don't give up the fight.

I herniated my c5-6 disk in college....worst pain ever....had the surgery and was back on my feet in no time. Not suggesting thats the right course or anything like that. Each patient is an individual. Anyway...sorry to hear about your injury and hope it gets better
