Anybody in for this small and quaint little race?

I think it's going to be fairly small like last year, and it's a good challenging course from what I hear, so barely any crowds on the course

I am in for the Sprint.. I need to seek revenge over last year.  This course is a tough grind on the back section.  One really steep long climb and then a bumpy downhill and more long climbs.  The run is tough on the Spit in the sand for a couple kms.  But I don't go that far in the sprint.  Good Luck.  Look out for me in my all pink race gear.

It was on my list of races to do this year, but I'm broken. No racing for me.

I may go out and volunteer though. Turns out I actually enjoy being a bike course marshall.

I should - I know I should. Most races are so desperate in their need for volunteers this year. And I *do* have a cowbell.
BUT I'm being so selfish. I work 6 days a week, some of those days are 14 hour days (some are only 8, nice short days, lol) ... I WANT MY SUNDAYS TO MYSELF, DAMMIT!

Would love to do this one... but not sure the finances will allow for it.. something about being a student again.. moving to the mainland.. and having taken the ferry back & forth almost weekly since early August... maybe i should seek sponsorship.. or a rich sugar daddy.. ha ha...

I don't know the course but is the "Big Hill" the Kemp Lake Road?  If that is the one it is a nasty piece of road for sure.  Oh I just looked you go around Kemp Lake Road but still get all the nasty stuff.  I might try and make it out to watch that one for sure.

The hill in question in past Kemp Lake turn off.  It is Otter Point Rd.  So you come off a corner straight onto a huge climb it levels off and then an even steep climb to the top.  I saw people fall over last year towards the top.  Ugly. But here I go to do it again.Frown

Supposed to go out and ride the course with a friend that will be competing in the Olympic distance... big hill & falling over... something about that doesn't sound like much fun

I rode the course yesterday morning during the torrential downpour, and I couldn't climb out of the saddle because of how slippery the road was on the Kemp lake climb.

On the other hand, I ran into the swim course director who was just getting prepped to cut the swim course for next week!

Good luck to everyone doing any of the distances!!!  It should be a fun race!!!

You go past Kemp Lake Rd. and the hill is Otter point Rd. I think you turned to soon.

Haha Sorry, I should have been more clear.

The only landmark near the hill for me is the Kemp lake turn-off.  I know the hill is at km 15 or something as well, but that doesn't really help visually!

I'm excited for the raceeeee!
