Overcast
Total Time = 1h 25m 4s
Overall Rank = 115/222
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/10
Event warmup:

Short swim out to the buoy post and back.
Swim
  • 09m 29s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a bad swim. The time wasn't horrible, but I just didn't feel comfortable.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more than once a week.
Transition 1
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Decent, but not good. Took my time and it shows. At this point, I was expecting a really slow race.
Bike
  • 43m 54s
  • 15.2 miles
  • 20.77 mile/hr
Comments:

I took it really easy since I was expecting to bonk at any time. I picked up the pace with about 4 miles to go since I was feeling better than expected. I think if I had been healthy, I could have been #2 age group (definitely #3).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, since I was just trying to get through it.
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

This went surprisingly well. My fastest T2 yet, and I wasn't even trying.
What would you do differently?:

Take off helmet while running through transition. If I can learn to flying dismount efficiently, I can get this down to :45 or less.
Run
  • 29m 27s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

DFL for my age group. Would have needed 7:38/mile pace to be MOP. On the bright side, the foggy weather kept things cool and prevented the misery from the July race.
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some Gatorade and a slice of watermelon and waited for the others to come in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Toxic mole in my bedroom, lack of sleep.

Event comments:

This was a PR, so I should be happy. I just know if it hadn't been for the mold and being sick for 7 weeks leading up to the race, I might have put down a really good time.

I've been away from my computer all week. I wish I had seen the thread as I would like to have met the other BTers at the race.

I'll add a thank you from my friend Laura (who finished 2nd in the novice females) for not going any faster
