Ashland, New Hampshire
United States
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 15m 18s
Overall Rank = 19/143
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 5/15
Pre-race routine:

Got up around 5:20am. Rest of the family slept in another 30 minutes. Car was packed the night before so we just loaded all 3 kids, Shannon, and myself. Quick drive up to Ashland.
Event warmup:

Air temp was about 44 in the morning so all the shivering kept me warm. I got in the water during the pre-race speech because it was in the low 70's.
Swim
  • 15m 1s
  • 437 yards
  • 03m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

.25 my butt. I would guess more like 600 yards. I hard a real hard time seeing the 2nd bouy and did swim a little off course a couple times. I had not been in the water in 2 weeks though so I cannot complain about how I felt.
What would you do differently?:

Get some goggles with darker lenses. Find some other place to swim when the Y closes for its yearly pool cleaning.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Not separated out. I did get in an out really quick though.
Bike
  • 39m 33s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I forgot how hilly it was around the lake. I climbed very well and downhilled really well too. Only got passed by 2 people and 1 was a relay team.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Not separated out. Another in and out fast.
Run
  • 20m 44s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 08m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out fast, but my ankle started to hurt again and my lack of run training showed through at the end. I am sick of the minor injury and am just going to stop running for at least 2 weeks and see what happens.
What would you do differently?:

Not get injured so I can run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Laid on the ground and caught my breath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hurting ankle.

Event comments:

I will go back next year with hopefully a better running fitness and no injury.
