Subject: ears hurt while swimming????

I've had this happen 3 times. I'm swimming, water gets in my ear and all of a sudden it hurts real bad. Like when your on a small plan and it starts decending. where the pressure just starts building up in your ear. That's exactly what it feels like... so why is my ear building pressure when i swim and why has it only happened 3 times? hurts to the point i have to stop swimming??? anyone know what that is?

I have the same thing happen to me! I used the waxy ear plugs that form to your ear. I had no water get in during my swim Satruday!

I get that too. I will not go in the water without earplugs. It is so bad that I take 2 pairs to every race because I would not swim without them. It is just not worth the pain.
