Subject: 2nd year, First HIM?
Just wondering, I am thinking about possibly doing a HIM next season.  However, this was my first season of tris and I only completed one (Sprint) but did well.  I was planning on doing around 4-6 next season and wondering if I should have any concerns about doing a HIM?  Any thoughts?

I did my first Half Iron in my second year of competition. The key is proper training. I went into my Half Ironman way to light on training and it showed with my results. 7:14 is a long time to be on a half iron course. Got me a Half Iron training plan I am starting to follow and am hoping to smash the course next year.

Last year was my first year and I'm doing a HIM and I feel fairly confident going into it. Just make sure you get started early and build up a good endurance base next year and I think you can go for it!

Why not. I did two HIM this year, in my second year, 4:47 and 4:44. Onto my third HIM this year in less than two weeks. Training is everything.

This is my second year and I'm doing a HIM in 3 weeks...

As said, training is the key.

Heck, I'd say you could do a full IM in the second year, as long as you had proper training.

This is my first year. I have completed 1 Olympic, just signed up for another Olympic in October then it will be on to a HIM in November.
I obv can't tell you just yet if this was a good idea, but it is doable.
Wish I had gotten the advice everyone gave above about training being important, Nov 7th is 9 weeks away and I have not done nearly enough.

HIM in your 2nd season is not overdoing it if you plan for it.

Alright thanks yall. I am not so much worried about biking and running it's just being prepared enough for the great distance on the OWS.
