OMG, I love it too.  Just fell in love this weekend.  It's been a long battle.  I used to hate it, then tolerate it, and now, it's love, love, love.  My non-running boyfriend seriously does not understand.  He thinks I'm nuts.

I love it as well. Came into Tri's as a runner first but now have found love for cycling as well.

For 40 years I hated it.  Over the past 9 mos I have gone from tolerating it to actually enjoying it.  I think I may be falling in love with it.  The trick for me was to slow down.  I started wanting to run 8 minute miles, would make it half a mile and feel like my lungs were going to explode.  My goal was to make it a mile the next time before I felt that way.  The problem was that on every run I felt that way eventually and it was no fun.  My wife, the marathoner, finally convinced me to slow down.  I ran 10-11 minute miles and slowly added distance.  Wow, not so bad!!  Last weekend I ran 16 miles and yesterday I ran a total of 10 x 800m repeats at 7:30 min/mile pace with 200m recovery in between.  Never thought I'd be able to do that after my start last December.  It's fun to see progress, even though I have a ways to go.  The guys winning my age group are running the 10k split at under 7 min/mi, ouch.

Running the long distances is almost addictive. If you would have told me 6 months ago my everyday long run distance was 12+ miles I would not have believed you.

Plus, when running on a treadmill and it times out after an hour, the person next to you looks over, and you hit reset and keep going..........PRICELESS!!!

For years I had a note on the front of my refrigerator that said:

I Love to Run,
It makes me Smile,
I think I'll go another Mile

I've learned to enjoy my bike and tolerate the swim, but my heart is in the run.

I really loved it a while back. Then I got shin splints and stress fractures. I loved it so much, I came back.

I still love it, but it scares me now when I feel pain a day after running!

Last season (my first) running felt like a job at times, where cycling was the fun part. This year though I am totally loving it! Just gotta find some passion for the swim now...

more than the bike...much more than the swim...I love to run!  And I have for about 25-years.  Unfortunately, the past few years anytime I ramp up my mileage and intensity I get injured.  So that's where the bike and swim have been incorporated with my training.  But if my almost 50-year old body would tolerate it I would run more and bike less.

I came to tri with a running background.

There are days when it's a challenge, but most of the time it feels so natural to me. Like today!

I find I don't get the same feeling of pure enjoyment with the other two mistresses!

tri_d00d - 2009-09-07 10:18 PM To love running, you have to forget that you are running...

That's what works for me.

x2.. I am with you on that one.  If I can find my little zone I can really enjoy it!

I'm NOT loving it...but I keep hoping that someday I will.  It just hurts me way too much to even tolerate it, at this point.  If not for my chronic back and feet pain, I could actually see myself "liking" it.

Runners are mythical creatures blessed with running genes.  Not me, but still, I love running.

Never called myself a swimmer, never called myself a cyclist, use to say I was a runner, now I'll always be called a triathlete.

For those of us who love running, read the book, 'Once a Runner', by John Parker. Great book. Starts off with a quote from Frank Shorter....'of course you did a 4:30 mile in high school, everybody did a 4:30 in high school'! (don't think I'll ever mention my 4:24 again).

Running is my first and true love, but after my first triathlon this weekend, I think I may be having an affair!

I have loved to run since I was in grade school. During my younger years I was a runner pure and simple. I ran everything from the 100 yard dash to the 2-mile in track and did my first marathon when I was 15 (a 3:06).

Through all of life's trials I always found solace and peace in my running. I love to ride and swim but they are mere sport while running will always be a passion to me.

I love cycling.  I love running.  I don't swim.

Seriously, I've learned to REALLY love running over the past 2 years.  Still loving it, as long as I stay healthy.

I came to triathlon from a running background and it is still my best leg performance wise.  Several weeks ago I started to think I was enjoying biking more than running. The more I thought about it, I realized that it's not a more or less kind of thing, just different. It's apples and oranges in many ways. I'd rather do a long bike than a long run, but I'd rather do a short run than a short bike.
Anyway, I've had some really awesome runs lately and am finding my groove again. Maybe it's the new shoes. That, and mixing up my routes.

1 year ago I used to say "I only run if someone is chasing me". Now I love to run, if makes me feel so powerful. Biking on the other hand.....not so much.
