Subject: Is Prairieman still "on" tomorrow?

I have a friend racing in Prairieman and I planned to go watch in the morning, but I haven't been able to reach her today, and the Ironhead website doesn't say anything about potential cancellation.  Have any of you who are registered heard from Jack regarding whether the race is/may be canceled?  I just don't want to get up at 5am and head to Grand Prairie if the race isn't happening.

Typically this is correct, but hours and hours of rain that can seriously screw with water conditions, cause a muddy/flooded race venue, etc can cancel a race (i.e. CapTex a couple years ago).

It is still on.  I just picked up my packet.

Right now I am attaching pontoons to my bike.

Jack has already sent an e-mail saying the race is on.  Really, the conditions are not bad.

I checked the water and it feels quite warm.  The course is flat and there are minimal turns, so wet pavement should not be an issue in the morning.

My friend Tim got second place in his AG!!!!

He said it was nasty out there! And he almost got plowed by a car on his bike, because a cop wasn't paying attention.

While I appreciate all the hard work the cops and volunteers do... they are not perfect... ALWAYS WATCH THE INTERSECTIONS!!!

I really enjoyed it, especially the run.  Then again I only did the sprint, I probably would have felt differently if I'd done the half.

This was my first tri where it rained the whole time.  The bike course was not that bad.  A couple of deep puddles.  The bike got cut short due to flooding.  Bummer since the bike is my strength.  I almost got to test my cyclocross skills coming back into the park. I overcooked a corner and was headed for a drainage ditch.  I managed to stay on the pavement but I fish tailed pretty good.  Thank goodness for mountain bike skills.

My first long course hardware!

Awesome, was the crowd small due to the weather? Think alot of people skipped out?

It looked liek a pretty full hose as far as participants.  Definitely a very small crowd to cheer us on.  But the few that were there stuck it out for the duration.

I heard there were about 550 registered and according to results, there were roughly 325 finishers. So if those 2 numbers are right, about 60% showed up.

Dang wet, but great fun. Not sure the long course folks would say the same. That bike was getting tougher and tougher as traffic built. There was some bad driving etiquette out there. I was happy with my 4 AG.
