Comments:

Oceans swims are tough! By the time I got to the first buoy I was still with the main pack but I was totally out of breath and had to let them go. After making the turn the 450 meter leg went by fast but I really never got into a good stroke.
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention on the last turn. I washed 50 yard further down the beach than I wanted. I just did not have alot left to fight the current that was pushing me.

Was not so happy with first segment but very happy with last segment (9:30 including transition time). The last time would have put me pretty close to my goal of an 8 min. mile

Not cruise quite as much on the first run segment.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The swim. I was unprepared for how much effort the swim took. And I hate running on sand.

Event comments:

I would give this a higher rating if not for the run. The swim being tough could change from day to day but sand running is not needed. I would like to do this race again. The double bike/run format is sort of cool.

Course: Course was 8 miles and flat. I purposely had to have some recovery time from the swim during the first segment so I did not push for time.

Course: First part of the course was not cool at all. I just do not like running on sand when there is plenty of pavement available. We also had to cross over a walkway to get to the beach and that hurts on the run time.
