Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 57m 37s
Overall Rank = 111/151
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 5/8
Pre-race routine:

Had a bagel and water bottle.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 11m 24s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 17s / 100 meters
Comments:

Starting is such a tight pack at first sucked. A lot of people kept stopping to see who they were hitting. Once I got out and to the side there were no issues.
What would you do differently?:

start on the outside or further up front.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Wet wet wet
Bike
  • 1h 04m 24s
  • 16.78 miles
  • 15.63 mile/hr
Comments:

My brake was scraping my tire probably the first 3 miles of the race. Had to fix it on the ride, which was ackward, but it's nice to know it can be done.

Lots of water out there so I was super cautious, especially on the turns.
What would you do differently?:

Check the brakes for rubbing better. I spun the wheel without incident and thought I was good to go. I'll be a little more thorough next time.
Transition 2
  • 02m 32s
Comments:

Decided to take off my sopping socks.
What would you do differently?:

Not much given the conditions.
Run
  • 36m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Liked the run a lot. Especially since I was already sopping wet and had nothing to keep me from jumping in the puddles (they were unavoidable anyways).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. I felt good and had a good time. I just need to work on getting my speed up.
Post race
Warm down:

Put a band aid on my heel and ate some pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Rain, a little, but not much. I think I had a decent race. I certainly had fun.

Event comments:

Start of race was pushed back a little, but really it was too dark to safely start on time.

Race was run well, especially given the circumstances. Post race activities definitely suffered because of the rain.

You're hard corps for racing in those conditions.  Nice race.

Sadly, those were about average post race "activities" for an Ironhead race. After Benbrook, we didn't even get pizza. I thought I was going to be stuck with nectarines only.

Nice job on your race.
