Just curious if anyone signed up for IMWI 2010.  I am officially $576 "poorer" and registered.

Congrats on signing up for another IM! Jazz and I are doing Lake Placid next year, so no Moo, but we definitely have to do some training together this winter/spring.

I was tentatively planning on it for the last 2 months but after sitting down with my wife I decided not too.  If i do Ironman..I would want to do well..and right now I don't think I have the time to balance it all very well.  Hopefully in the very near future I will...Good luck to everyone doing it..seems like a great race.

So...when I am ready to do it in 2011 or 2012, do I have to volunteer the year before to get a spot, or go there to reg the next day, or are there usually open spots for reg online?

I volunteered this year and it was a great time.  The Madison area is very nice and you get a first hand view of what your in for the following year.  I would recommend volunteering and then registering the next day.  I think this year filled up within a few hours.  I personally would not take the chance and not get registered.  It takes a lot of thought to sign up for an IM and to have an opportunity missed just because you rolled the dice on an on-line reg would be really disappointing.

davidson3 - 2009-09-28 11:44 PM So...when I am ready to do it in 2011 or 2012, do I have to volunteer the year before to get a spot, or go there to reg the next day, or are there usually open spots for reg online?

Since the registration process has changed most races seem to be available online now for at least a few hours.  IMMOO didn't sell out until sometime around 11 pm eastern time after going on sale around 1pm last month.  But as mentioned volunteering is a great way to see the area and how things workout, then you have first dibs on registration Monday morning, so there will be no doubt.  Volunteers get to register before other people in the line of folks who didn't volunteer.

Surprise surprise - I am throwing my hat in the ring....

I am thinking of volunteering next year to see if 2011 will be good.  I would prefer a late-season IM, possibly FL or AZ for 2011 - but I always said that my first IM would be IMMoo.

So I am not sure WHEN IM is in my future - but I now know that it IS in my future.  I would love IM Moo in 2011, but I may be knee deep in classes labs and clinicals for my BSN degree - major full time work - and would not be able to train that year.

Ideally - THIS would be the year for me to IM (2010)... so Moo would be out.

Have fun everyone and train safe!

Do it with a community slot. the entry is 1100.  only have to raise 550 more than you would normally pay, and I know you, you could get it all covered!!  You rack your bike near the pros and get treated like VIP.  DO IT!!  Be my swim angel!!
