150 - 200 yds fast swim and some stretching
Swim
  • 12h 51m
  • 880 yards
  • 1h 27m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

ok swim. wanted to hit 10 mins and didn't. had to get through 3 earlier waves and got stuck behind a squadron of breast-strokers
What would you do differently?:

swim right over the breast strokers. power through the middle 3rd of the swim
Transition 1
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

race didn't have baby pools to run through to get sand off of feet - so wasted 15 secs wiping off my feet. shoe got stuck on my heel. first time no socks... went fine.
What would you do differently?:

need to learn how to clip shoes into pedals ahead of time.
Bike
  • 41h 59m 45s
  • 14.4 miles
  • 0.34 mile/hr
Comments:

hated the bike ride
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

fine transition
What would you do differently?:

need speed laces
Run
  • 22h 46m 992s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 7h 24m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

loved the run
What would you do differently?:

push it harder
Post race
Warm down:

stretch. bagel. cookie. water. orange

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the bike course was awful. didn't push the swim hard enough. was too nice to people in front of me slowing me down

Event comments:

dangerous bike course ruined it for me. no baby pool for sand was an easy gimme the organizers missed. signs for run were too small and not obvious. other than that. good race but won't do again.

Course: terrible course. double loop - entire course was probably 8 miles long. with part of it being done twice. 500 people biking on 8 miles was way too crowded, hard to not wreck, impossible to pass, and took a lot of work NOT to draft do to lack of space. neighborhood route and LOTS of 90 degree turns which 1.) slowed you down and 2.) made it dangerous with so many bikers on the road. Roads open to traffic also. saw at least 10 almost bad accidents... very dangerous bike. do not recommend this triathlon unless you want to get hurt
