Comments: My right hamstring has been sore since Steelhead and my knees have also been sore. I got the ChiRunning book and read through a good portion of it. Not having done any of the drills, I still attempted to keep my lower body relaxed and maintain a forward lean. This seemed to help a lot and my knees really didn't start to have any discomfort until the 12th mile. I felt nauseous for the second half of the race. I maintained 8 minute pace for the first 10 miles. I had to take a leak at the 1 mile due to being a little paranoid about hydration before the race. What would you do differently?: I'm just not in great running shape. It's disappointing running a half marathon at a minute per mile slower than I used to run a full marathon. I'm going to try and focus more on my running this winter. Post race
Warm down: I didn't do any warm down at the race site. I walked back to my car and took a hot shower at home. I then proceeded to watch football for the afternoon and periodically iced both knees and took ibuprofin. What limited your ability to perform faster: I had plenty of air but not the legs. I need to focus on my running more. I was 50 seconds per mile faster than my half marathon in April, but I'm not anywhere near where I want to be. Event comments: This was a good race that was fast and well run. Last updated: 2009-05-08 12:00 AM

I got up around 3:30 and had my normal breakfast. Before leaving for the race, I did some yoga to stretch out.
I did some light jogging.
