"A" race - Cedar Point (Rev3, full distance) 9/12/2010

Leading up to that:

I need an early HIM, so I am looking at Racing for Recovery in Monroe, Mich. It's a Lake Erie swim and a flat/windy bike and run, so very similar conditions to the Cedar Point race. Unfortunately it's $150. (I am spoiled by HFP on price) It's in June.

I hope to sprinkle in some other races in there, too:
I usually do an early May half-marathon (Cap City)
Antrim (Columbus International) is a fun race I seldom miss. I might this year, though. I was frustrated with how crowded it was last year, and I no longer live within walking distance of it.

Running:
April 11 - Athens Half Mary (or full depending on how C-bus goes)

Triathlon
April 17 - Miami?? Maybe??
June xx - Wendy's International- corp. challenge (who wouldn't want to race for free)
July xx - Columbus Olympic - like Alice I like the course fast fun and spectator friendly

I am seriously thinking about doing another HIM. I am torn between doing the GBC again or the Rev3. I haven't decided yet.

IMKY again. (I've just gotta check with the wife first. )

Miami Tri- I really like that one.
The OSU Tri- I'm registered alredy, differed from 2009 when I was cancelled.
I'd like to do Antrim again

I might try to do an early season Mary. I need to work on my run this winter.

My goal for 2010 is to do more Olympic distance races. By the end of the year, I would like to do at least 1 HIM, if not 2. I will do some Sprints too. Here is a list of races i'm thinking about:

Miami University
OSU - if they bring it back
Wendy's
Any local Olympic distance races I can find
An Ironman 70.3 - maybe Steelhead or Augusta - if my wife doesn't shoot me first
Great Buckeye Challenge HIM
Toyota Challenge HIM
Columbus Marathon - Full

If I accomplish my goals next year, my goal for 2011 will be a full IM

Set in stone: Wendys International

Maybes: Chicago Triathlon (OLY), Rev3 Knoxville (OLY), Deer Creek still a little bitter about that race.

Probably nots but still have a shot: Rev3 Half Cedar Point

I am thinking 5-6 total tris, and half a dozen time trials or fun bike rides.  TOSVR is on my radar.

OSU tri was lots of fun... I don't see it on their list yet. If it is available I may do that one.

Ahhh, I forgot about TOSRV. I am planning on doing this too. I have done the Police Unity Tour the past 2 years, which is a 250 mile bike ride from Virginai to DC over a 3 day period. It starts the same weekend as TOSRV, so i'm thinking about switching things up and doing this instead.

Off the top of my head, there are Alum Creek Oly (Fat Rabbit); Antrim Columbus Oly (Fat Rabbit); a zillion HFP races that aren't always true Oly distance (the swim is short); Outer Limits is an Oly I think in Columbus (never done it) ... OK, that's all I can think of. But I'd say there are a lot to choose from that aren't far away.

May: Tri-for-Joe at Coney Island - DUATHLON
(did the Tri in '09...swore to NEVER do it again. Water in May is just too cold. Plus the swim is a funky shape.)

June: Deer Creek - Oly

July: Caesar Creek - Oly

August: East Fork - Oly

August: Caesar Creek - Mini

Sept: Deer Creek - Mini (maybe)

AHOHL - I like your tag line.

Arnold Pump and Run intrigues me. My friend and I were just talking about the Arnold Classic and we're going to go this year. What is the entry and where do I sign up. What weight do you bench for it or what is it I should say?

Probably do an HFP race this year (Most likely East Fork though), but definatly want to do a half marathon, most likely the Pig, then the Philadelphia Tri Olympic again to see what I can cut my time down to. A race i'm going to do Savageman HIM as it seems like a really fun race, and volunteered this year and enjoyed it immensely. Working on hills and trying to shed some weight!

I'll add if you have Facebook i'm friends with Fat Rabbit and HFP and they keep me up to date, and send messages about the events so I can't forget them. Kinda of a really cool thing, and for some reason think it's the greatest thing to keep in contact and notified of upcoming races.

Registration: www.runohio.com (Opens Nov. 1)

The bench is a percentage of your body weight depending on age. Men vary from 60 to 100%, Women vary from 40 to 70%. I think the step down of total weight starts at over 50.

Each full press reduces your 5k time by 30 seconds. You have a maximum of 30 lifts.

Winning male in 2009 total 5k was 16:34, subtracting his 30 presses, total time was 1:34

I'm there! Pressing 200 lbs is going to be tough but sounds fun and going to have to wipe the dust off my bench, and weights.

Well it will be my first full season and I can hardly wait (long winter ahead)
Plan is potentially: (based on last season)
Wendy's International sprint- or Fat Rabbit International in June
Outer Limits or Nationwide at Antrim-July
Delaware Sprint (where it all started)-Aug
   Great Buckeye oly-Aug
   Deer Creek oly-Sept
In the meantime I plan to do Prairie Oaks 10k because next June is too far away!!

Next season will be my first full season. I'm hoping to fit in a few sprints and end with a HIM.

I'd like to start with a sprint at Deer Creek and end the season with the HIM at Deer Creek. I've never done any other course, so anyone have good recommendations for central Ohio?

The only one I can speak on from experience is the Great Buckeye Challenge, which is at Buck Creek State Park outside of Springfield in August. It has the spring, mini and HIM distances, just like the Toyota Challenge at Deer Creek. It has a nice bike course, some flat, some rolling hills (but nothing too serious). It is also put on by HFP Racing.

Entry is on line only - Run Ohio

I believe registration opens Nov 1 - It is limited entry - last year it took four days to fill up.

you lift your body weight - they weigh you in before you lift

women and older contestants do a percentage of body weight

you bench press that weight as many times as you can (up to 30 reps)  you subtract 30 secs for each repetition from your 5k run   - last year I ran 18:19 and benched 90% of my weight 30 times so I finished with a 3:19 final time (8th out of 750)

I just completed the Columbus Marathon to finish my first tri season and I am already anxious for next year. Whatever the first official tri is in Ohio for 2010, I am there. After that I think the Miami University Tri and the OSU Tri will be two sprints I would like to complete. Beyond that a couple of Olympic distances before attempting 1-2 HIMs to end the season. Any one know where the first triathlon of the spring is being held? I wish 2010s tri season was here already.

I liked and recommend the Wendy's and Fat Rabbit tri's (both in Alum Creek in June)

A little further north - the Columbus Challenge was good
A little further Southe the Rudy Project was good.

I didn't do them but have heard good things about Outer Limits and Antrim Tri's

OSU might have one in May.

Starting out my first tri in July 2010 with the Cincinnati One World Sprint.  Will probably try to get in the Flying Pig (May 2010) as a warm-up.

What other races are around the Cincy area?

Also - anyone know of a good non-soy protein mix?
