So last  night  after a longgggggg swim I decided that I am going to do a ironman 70.3 next year  and would like to know which one of the 70.3 my fellow BTers enjoyed and would recommend.

Haven't done one yet but I signed up for NOLA 70.3 in April.  Should be fun!

Good luck!

You have 38 70.3 branded races to choose from. http://ironman.com/events/ironman70.3 except Eagleman is sold out, not sure if any other are yet.

I raced New Orleans last year. I loved it and am going again in April. It was an interesting race because you will see parts of New Orleans you most likely would never see. I am also planning on racing Augusta although I don't know much about the race. I love the Ironman branded races. Even though they are more expensive I find them more exciting.

Augusta was my first and I loved it. Swim is down river and wetsuit legal. It was very fast. Rolling hills for the bike were alot of fun. Im from the flats and really enjoyed riding in some hills. Run is 2 loop course through down town. It was a first year event and went very smooth. Good Luck with which ever one you choose.

I'm looking at 1 of 3 next year either Providence, Timberman or Mooseman right now leaning more towards Timber or Moose because of lake swimming. HAd abad experience in my tri with trying to drink the Atlantic dry.

Did a tri 2 weeks ago in an ocean inlet swim and the salt water did not bother me. I will swim and ride and run whatever . I need a goal to work towards.

Me too. I'm hoping to do one too late July-Sept 2010. I live in the northeast, could travel but a drive would be more convenient. I've been watching the WTC site with all the new events added to Ironman brand lately. I keep wondering if they will add more. Being a BOPer I would prefer a course that isn't extremely hilly any advice would be appreciated.

Only IM 70.3-branded half I've done was Vineman, but I thought it was really first rate.  Probably the easiest swim out there, FWIW.

Augusta 70.3!  I say that because it is the only one I've done .  You will be very pleased with whichever one you choose.

My current plan is to finish out this year with running a 10k race on Sunday, a sprint at MSU next Sunday and perhaps a collegiate indoor sometime during the winter.  I don't plan on doing a HIM for two summers.  However, I am kind of tempted to sign up for Steelhead since it's in my home state.  Anyone done it?

If the Steelhead 70.3 isn't until July 31 would I still be able to sign up in say 2 months?

Steelhead didn't sell out this year.  I signed up in January - but it was still open up until a week before the event.

Thanks for the information.  I'm also thinking of doing my first half at Steelhead.

Livestrong do you want to do an Ironman branded event only?
If not you have Beach 2 Battleship in your backyard and it has only gotten great reviews.
I am doing the Half in 6 weeks so will no a little more then.

I  might be doing the swimming part for a relay team B2B Half . I want to do an ironman brand. I will also be considering doing the white lake half as an attempt but not sure.

Kansas 70.3 was my first HIM and I had a blast. The swim is wetsuit legal, in a lake without current, and they got the length right. The bike has some killer hills that will surely test you; there's somewhere in the neighborhood of 2600' of elevation change. The run is a two loop course with a couple of hills and few shaded portions. Overall, Kansas 70.3 is a tough, well-supported, and very well run race. Chrissie Wellington won overall women this year and put the medal on my neck as well. Very cool.
